Food Security and Livelihoods
Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient,
safe, and nutritious food which meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy
life.
Natural Resource Management
Natural resource management focuses on conserving and preserving renewable and non-renewable natural
resources in operational areas both in inland and in coastal areas.
Education
VCI is cognizant that education forms the foundation of a society and will seek to improve the access to
quality formal and non-formal education for children, youth and adults.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
In Somalia and among northern Kenya communities, water shortages and unawareness has resulted to poor
sanitation and hygiene practices.
Health and Nutrition
VCI supports health facilities in south-central Somalia, providing a variety of life-saving care and services.
VCI will continue to supported MCHs and conduct regular nutrition screenings to identify and refer
malnourished children to feeding centres.
Peace Building and Civic Engagement
Following over 3 decades of conflict, political developments in the past 2 years ushered hope that Somalia
